Updates - March 25, 2010

Google First... Agreements with Google for additional services to education are in their final legal reviews. As soon as they are complete and executed, we will be jointly releasing notification and next step instructions.

While we continue to accrue support, we have also lost some donors due to economic hardship. We are awaiting word on $550,000 in funding requests, preparing application information for an ARRA Innovation Grant, and approaching individual donors. As we roll with the difficult terrain, we are awaiting news (as you are from us) from potential additional awards that will go to purchase equipment for grantees. As you can all imagine, these are difficult times to ask partners to be generous, but we are determined to bring you what you need!

Bringing Tomorrow's Technology to Today's Classroom

With digital content and 24/7 on-demand teaching and learning platforms available, Accelerate Oregon will make the greatest impact on Oregon 21st Century Education acceleration by targeting the adoption of a baseline classroom for middle schools and additional professional development for teachers. This lays the groundwork for additional public financial support to equip classrooms and student computing implementation.

Two separate processes coming to Oregon K12 carry great potential where their missions overlap. ARRA Title IID Ed Tech funds are coming available through a competitive process overseen by ODE. Accelerate Oregon is bringing grants and deep discounts to Oregon K12 school districts who wish to integrate teacher presentation systems into their classrooms, beginning with 8th grade.
